Five Peaks Virtual Challenge

I'm taking Canteen's Five Peaks Virtual Challenge...

…a month-long challenge to cover 68km in March - the combined trail distance of Australia’s five highest peaks.

Every year, 23,000 young Australians face the mountain that is a cancer journey. Whether facing their own cancer diagnosis, or dealing with a loved one’s cancer journey, climbing that peak means feeling isolated, lost, exhausted, and confused.

It’s terrifying, and no one should face it alone. That’s why I’m challenging myself and I need your support!

Please sponsor me today and make every km count! All funds raised will help young people, facing their hardest climb, get free access to Canteen’s cancer counselling, peer support and specialised in-hospital care.

Thank you for your support!

Challenge Done ...

Wednesday 26th Mar
A little celebration that I conquered this challenge. It feels good, but every day Australians and people globally face the cancer challenge.... with love and hope!

Finish line today

Wednesday 26th Mar
This afternoon will see me hitting my target ....I am forever grateful that I get to "walk into the best workplace" Canteen also provides support to our "teenagers living with us , who also are going through oncology treatment " We aren't just all about oncology , but love I can give back . From one charity to another!

What a morning!!!

Wednesday 19th Mar
Was worth getting up in the dark! Another 6 km down . On the home stretch of the #fivepeakschallenge The world is a magical place when we look hard ! Thank you for all your support!!!

So there were three

Saturday 15th Mar
My offsiders supported me today. 20km walk, and yes this challenged us . Didn't expect to be so hot , even though I tracked the weather , prepared a bag, had muesli bars, bannanas and plenty of water . My trusty joggers that has seen a lot of walking over 10 years broke mid walk. All I can say is the walk was unpredictable, and that is what cancer is like , unpredictable and determined to cause havoc. Let's kick cancers butt!!!

Weather events ontop of challenges

Sunday 9th Mar
So while up north are battling challenges , we forget that those battling cancer or an illness or injury need to also face challenges on top of challenges !!! Support is absolutely necessary for those individuals ! It's been a slow start this week due to the weather . Today blue skies!

Day 2 with my side kick!

Sunday 2nd Mar
Day two , 5kms , with my side kick Elora. Nice to get up early and have one on one time with her ..: she still brings her sillies with her!

Day One

Saturday 1st Mar
Day one .. Tick It was hot; but yay. Uncomfortable, yes ... but not everything is a breeze . Let's see if I can chip away tomorrow .

Tomorrow the challenge starts

Friday 28th Feb
The eve of the Five Peaks challenge starting . I know there will be days that I will be completely not motivated , as Lock is now out of hospital. Comes with the territory to support someone who needs your help . It's tough on carers and the patient whether it's a cancer journey or not .
I hope March flies by as did February . Please donate if you can , or if you want to support Canteen.
Words of encouragement is just as good ! We all have fight in us!

7 Days to Go

Friday 21st Feb
7 days left till the challenge begins. I am unsure what to expect and what's to come with each step I take.
Just like those who are supporting loved ones with cancer or who are new diagnosed . What do they face?
Looking forward to what I can achieve!

Delay in training

Tuesday 4th Feb
So , there has been a delay in training . Ended up in hospital with an abscess on my tonsil. Had to endure pain which was terrible, but not as half of the mental and physical pain of having cancer or being the support person, every day is a challenge and need to focus on the positives.

Nothing like walking in a circle

Sunday 19th Jan
Girls and I decided to go on a stroll. This ended us walking / running almost 14km .... girls did awesome and so proud of them! - a great afternoon for it

41 Days to go

Saturday 18th Jan

Facing a cancer diagnosis—whether it’s your own or a loved one’s—feels like being thrust into an uphill battle, unprepared and unsure of the path ahead. It’s a journey that can leave you feeling isolated, lost, and exhausted, with fear and uncertainty overshadowing even the smallest glimmers of hope. The physical, emotional, and mental toll can be overwhelming, making each day feel like a mountain that must be climbed without a map.

This is why I have accepted this challenge to climb 5 peaks in March!
